Select Board Accepts Donations
Four local businesses are once again sponsoring the youth t-ball teams this year, according to Human Services Director Brandon Fitts.
Those businesses include Champion Sports, the Belmont Lions Club, realtor Lynn Findlay, and Friener Plumbing.
“This is the first batch of our spring and summer sponsors that have come in,” he said.
Additionally, two families made donations to the Beech Street Center.
The board voted unanimously to accept the donations.
Contract Awarded
The Select Board voted unanimously to approve a contract with Weston & Sampson Engineering for the 2025 sewer investigation project.
According to Assistant Town Engineer Wayne Chouinard, this is a follow-up to the 2024 monitoring program, which evaluated the amount of infiltration and inflow into the town’s sewer system.
One-Day Liquor License Granted
The Select Board approved a one-day liquor license request, for beer and wine only, for an individual to host a wedding party at the Beech Street Center.
Outdoor Dining
Town officials are still working out an outdoor dining policy in an effort to reconcile a pre-pandemic policy with the one instituted during the pandemic.
Downtown Belmont Business Association President Deran Muckjian noted to Select Board members that at least three past proponents for outdoor dining—il Casale, The Wellington Tavern, and Stone Hearth Pizza—would not be pursuing it this year.
“The revenue wasn’t generating enough for the expense they had to put into it,” he said.
He added that Winchester has had luck charging $500 a spot for outdoor dining use.
