New Firefighters

The Belmont Fire Department welcomed two new firefighters, Sean McGillivray and Michael Downing, during a pinning ceremony Monday night.

Trans Day Display Approved

The Select Board approved a request from the LBTQ Alliance for display in Belmont Center at the Delta to mark Trans Day of Visibility on March 31.

This is the fourth year of the display, which features posters of prominent trans people, and it will be up for about a week. On March 31, there will be a gathering at the display.

Road Race Set

The Board approved the request from the Belmont Chinese American Association to hold the annual Asian and Pacific Islander 5K road race on Sunday, May 3.

This will be the fifth year for the race.

Community Path Project Committee Charge

The board approved a change to the charge of the Community Path Project Committee to focus on Phase 2 of the project.

The change was needed because Phase 1, which gets about halfway across town, is almost ready to go out to bid.

State Aid

The first projections for state aid came in about $250,000 less than the town had estimated for the fiscal year 2027.

According to Town Administrator Patrice Garvin, the town will keep its projected figure in place for now, hoping the state aid figure increases over the course of the state budget process.
