Our neighbor, Nomita Ganguly, approached us soon after we moved to Belmont 17 years ago. Nomita and her husband, Craig, wanted to install a new fence between our backyards, and she wanted to make sure it was OK with us before proceeding. However, she added, we want to install a gate too, so that your kids can play on our swing set whenever they want. As a Democratic candidate for state representative, this small anecdote provides a window into how Nomita will represent the 24th Middlesex House District – in short, consistently looking for creative, inclusive ways to solve problems big and small.
Far beyond just being a thoughtful neighbor, Nomita has been a tireless community and statewide advocate for change. As a lawyer, she has spent the last 20-plus years advocating for elder care issues at the Statehouse as well as being a leading voice within Belmont public education as the co-president of both the Chenery PTO and the Foundation for Belmont Education.
