Join the March to the Polls

An expanding group of Belmont residents of all backgrounds, political perspectives, and faith traditions will march to the Town Hall together on Saturday, Oct. 17.  That’s the first day the polls are open for early voting.  We are encouraging every eligible voter in Belmont to take your vote seriously, to study the issues and the candidates, to stand up for what you care most about!  Your ideas matter.  Your reality matters. And your vote matters.  And if you haven’t registered to vote, you still can, through Saturday, Oct. 24.

Let’s step up, speak out, and vote!  Only then will we have an influence over the decisions our local, state, and national governments make that affect all people and the planet.

In the primary elections in September, only 35% of Belmont voters actually voted. Even in the 2024 presidential election, over 4,000 registered Belmont voters stayed quiet. Nationally, a total of 90 million eligible American voters did not vote. Ninety million!  Think about that!  Donald Trump and Kamala Harris each only got between 75 and 78 million votes.

Across the nation, people are rising up locally to call on all eligible voters to please step up and please be active in shaping our future.  We need to build that future together.  We are joining with the non-partisan campaign of Rev. William Barber’s Repairers of the Breach to generate hundreds of marches across the nation.  We have also joined the No Kings non-partisan Early Voting campaign.

To join Belmont’s March to the Polls from 1 pm- 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17th, please contact me for details at dstoneman212@gmail.com. We would love to have you join us!
