We are indeed fortunate to have someone of Zehra Abid-Wood’s extraordinary talents and experience– administrative, technological, budgetary and strategic – as a candidate for the School Committee. With our schools facing increasing educational demands amid restrictive financial resources, we need strong, capable individuals who can help guide our system and maintain the quality of excellence which has been the pride of our town for decades.
As a former School Committee member and chair, I understand first-hand the importance of electing a School Committee of varied backgrounds and experiences which can work well with the superintendent in protecting the quality of Belmont schools for this and future generations of students.
With a degree in computer science, Zehra has extensive experience in technology, strategic planning and development, and budget and project management. Currently she is president of Lasell Village, an innovative and exciting continuing care retirement community, known for its model of intergenerational living and adult learning by coordinating with Lasell University. If elected, Zehra will bring all of these skills to the School Committee as it works with our superintendent to manage the many demands on our educational system, all within budget constraints.
As a parent of two sons at Chenery Upper Elementary School, Zehra has seen the strengths and challenges of our school system. As a member of the Belmont Schools’ Strategic Planning Advisory Committee, she has a broad understanding of what it takes for the school system to succeed.
Please join me in supporting Zehra Abid-Wood for Belmont School Committee on Monday, April 1.
