Here’s the latest on how the Belmont Public Library will provide services as the town builds a new facility, along with the timeline for the project.
Timeline
November 22, 2023:
- Current library building to close.
- Limited services will be available in December.
- The library will establish a telephone hotline and create a section on the library website for patrons to find the latest information.
2024: Demolition is scheduled at the beginning of the New Year.
May 2025: Target date for the completion of construction of the new library on Concord Ave.
August 2025: Target date for new library open to the public.
Library Services
Starting on January 2, 2024, residents can take advantage of library services at the following locations:
Benton Library, 75 Oakley Rd.
Children’s services will move to the Benton Library.
Hours:
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Monday, Tuesday, and Friday)
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. (Wednesday and Thursday)
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Saturday)
Beech Street Center, 266 Beech St.
Adult services, computers, material and reference services will move to the Beech Street Center. Access to museum passes will become available on Nov. 27 at the Beech Street Center.
Hours:
9:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. (Monday – Thursday)
9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Friday)
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Saturday)
Chenery School, 95 Washington St.
Staff offices and temporary storage space will move to the Chenery School. Young adult services will be worked out with the schools.
