Surrounded by family, friends, and a group of other local veterans, Bob Young recently celebrated his 100th birthday at the Beech Street Center.

Young, who was born Aug. 8, 1924, has been a resident of Belmont for 65 years. Originally from Maine, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to1946.
