Elizabeth Dionne will take over as chair of the Select Board, effective July 1.
The board’s newest member, Matthew Taylor, elected on April 2, will take over as vice chair on the same date. In the meantime, Roy Epstein remains chair, Dionne is vice chair, and Taylor steps in as board member.
“A lot of what individuals do through the year culminates in Town Meeting and it always seemed less than optimal to me to have people switch out just before Town Meeting starts,” said Epstein.
In prior years, roles changed immediately after the most recent election; however, last spring, the board voted to delay the reorganization until the end of the fiscal year, allowing greater continuity in the budget process.
“The July 1 date is very helpful in our office,” said Town Administrator Patrice Garvin.
Taylor will also step in until July 1 as the Select Board member of the Capital Budget Committee, a position vacated by former board member Mark Paollilo, who did not seek reelection.
