As we look ahead to the exciting opening of our brand-new library building, we’re also taking a moment to reflect on the space that shaped generations of readers, thinkers, and lifelong learners—336 Concord Ave. We have some great programs and new services this summer that celebrate where we’ve been and where we’re headed.
Digital Community Scrapbook: Remembering 336 Concord Ave.
We’re proud to announce the launch of the Digital Community Scrapbook—a special local history project that invites everyone to help us preserve the legacy of the old Belmont Public Library building. From 1965 to 2024, the library at 336 Concord Ave. served as a hub of knowledge, creativity, and connection.
We’re collecting photographs that capture life in and around the library across those six decades. Maybe it’s a picture from your first library card, a children’s program you attended, a snowy day at the front steps—whatever your memories, we’d love to include them.
You can submit photos digitally through our website, or visit us at the Beech Street Center (266 Beech St.) for assistance with scanning physical photographs. All contributors will be asked to confirm permission for any recognizable individuals in the photos, and while we can’t guarantee every photo will be included, all will be appreciated as part of this community effort. Questions? Call 617-993-2870 or email AskBelmont@minlib.net to connect with Reference and Local History Librarian Logan Manchester.
Library of Tools: Borrow, Build, Belong
Have a picture to hang, a bike to fix, or a faucet to check? The Library of Tools is here to help! From cordless drills and voltage testers to bike pumps and laser levels, you can now borrow useful tools to complete household projects without having to buy them. It’s a smart, sustainable way to learn, create, and save.
Tools can be reserved through the Minuteman catalog or borrowed in person. Manuals and carry cases are included where possible, making your next project just a bit easier.
Summer Reading 2025: “Level Up at Your Library!”
The 2025 Summer Reading Program runs from June 16 through Aug. 16, and this year’s theme—Level Up at Your Library!—is all about growth, adventure, and fun through reading and activities for all ages. Check out our website for full program info and links to join in.
Here’s to building memories, skills, and the future—together.
