I write in support of the reelection of our very effective and accomplished state Sen. Will Brownsberger. I have known Will while serving on several town committees, including the Warrant and Rink committees, and have witnessed his willingness to dive into the details, roll up his sleeves, and produce results.
During my terms on the Warrant Committee from 2018 through 2022, he and Rep. Dave Rogers helped secure appropriations for: Police station and public works building renovations, the new library, the Community Path, traffic signal, tree removal, and sidewalk repair, and numerous other projects that the town would not have been able to complete without state money. Their efforts led to many millions of dollars of appropriations for the town in that four-year window alone. And then, during the Rink Committee, they were able to secure much needed money for its initial conceptual design and then $750,000 for a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly, ice plant.
I also knew of Will when we were both at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. Unlike many of his classmates from Harvard Law School, Will did not pursue a life in private practice at a large law firm, which was certainly available to him, but instead chose a life of public service. He continued that service on the town’s Select Board and now years in the State House and Senate. Will has foregone a potentially lucrative career in private practice for one of service of the public good.
