I am writing in support of Mile Crowley, candidate for Moderator. He is a person of integrity and has shown his fair and balanced approach to the many and varied issues as a member of the School Committee and as its designee on the Warrant Committee.
As Moderator, Mike Crowley will reach out to residents to encourage their participation and will work to assure that all Town Meeting Members, and especially all new members, are given opportunities to be well prepared for Town Meeting.
Mike Crowley knows the community well and will appoint residents to committees who are not only knowledgeable about the issues facing our town but also represent the diversity that makes Belmont strong.
It has been suggested that waiting another year for a change will allow for an orderly transition of the moderator position. I am under the impression that in Belmont any change in position through the electoral process in any given year will be orderly and positively achieved.
Every Town Meeting is complicated. Changes in zoning and responding to the MBTA rezoning requirements will be addressed by Town Meeting this spring and in the fall.
Mike Crowley will offer ample opportunity for debate and decision-making. He will be well
versed in managing Town Meeting, and Town Meeting will be fair and efficient as always. We are fortunate to have capable people like Mike run for leadership roles in our Town. Please vote for Mike Crowley on April 2.
