In response to recent MBTA rezoning articles, I have a perspective to offer that quotes from the articles haven’t been shown yet.
I rent in the Waverley neighborhood, and I like it here. I’d be happy to see zoning changes that bring more housing to the neighborhood.
I’ve been commuting by foot on most days for the past year; my fiancee spent more than a year commuting by public transportation (73 bus and commuter rail) to Boston three days a week. As far as a “work and play” place to live, Waverley is actually pretty good as it is now.
We walk to the grocery store, bank, library, and downtown Belmont strip. I love having Lone Tree Hill and the Town Field nearby.
Plus the 73 bus is pretty good for taking us to Harvard Square for a night out in the city.
