BELMONT BOARD OF HEALTH ENACTMENT
On October 28, 2024 the Belmont Board of Health voted to enact amendments to the regulation entitled “Regulation Regarding the Use of Dumpsters and Rubbish Hauling.” The amended regulation is effective on November 25, 2024. The regulation does the following:
Section 6, Paragraph 4) No dumpsters may be located on a public or private way without prior approval from the Belmont Police Department and Department of Public Works. Temporary dumpsters placed on a public or private way shall be equipped with reflective devices to warn motorists that a dumpster is present.

DESIGNATION OF COMMERCIAL AREAS FOR SIDEWALK SNOW REMOVAL
The Select Board has designated commercial areas within the Town of Belmont for the purpose of enforcing Article 8 Chapter 60 Section 800 of the General Bylaws of the Town of Belmont – Sidewalk Snow Removal. Those owners and tenants of commercial property designated in the list below are hereby required to remove snow and ice from the abutting public sidewalk to the extent practicable down to the sidewalk’s natural surface and otherwise level and evenly cover with appropriate material to prevent slipping. Such removal and treatment shall be accomplished within twelve (12) hours after the snow and ice has fallen or formed on the sidewalks, and removal shall consist of at least one-half of the width of the sidewalks nearest the curb or other lateral limit of the roadway.
In addition to the inconvenience caused to pedestrians as well as potential liability for negligence, violation of the above bylaw shall result in a fine of $300 for each offense.
