Obituary: Arnaldo daCruz

Arnaldo daCruz, of Belmont, died in the early hours of Feb. 20 after a short, valiant battle with glioblastoma, a fatal form of brain cancer.

Arnaldo was loved and admired by all who knew him, from the countless children he mentored as a science teacher at the Robert F. Kennedy school in Cambridge, as a beloved Belmont Youth Soccer coach, as a mentor to numerous Portuguese immigrants through his many roles at the Cambridge Organization of Portuguese Americans, to his numerous friends and colleagues at Ramco and Seigel Egg, and by his many beloved friends at the Oakley Country Club in Watertown.

Arnaldo will be missed daily by his wife, Dorothy daCruz, his children, Ben Welsh, David daCruz, and Amanda Lamberti, their spouses, his eight grandchildren, and his extended family. His infectious love for people was genuinely adored by all who knew him.

At Arnaldo’s request, his body is being donated to Brown University to aid in the pursuit of a cure and effective treatment for glioblastoma.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in the early spring, with details to follow.
