Athena McInnis, a resident of Belmont and Gloucester, passed away peacefully on Nov 23.
Athena is survived by her daughters, Aluna Michaels and Leslie Kane, three grandsons, Steven, Shaun, and Scott Kane, and one great-grandson, Lucas Kane. She also had many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband George, her sister Electra Miller, her brother Alexander Yphantis, her sister-in-law Charlotte Yphantis, and a great-grandson, Zachary Kane.
Athena was a unique personality who bonded with many people in both Belmont and Gloucester, and left behind many friends of all ages and walks of life!
Athena was a longtime member of the Belmont Historical Society, the Belmont Woman’s Club, the Massachusetts Archaeological Society, and the American Federation of Astrologers. She taught many astrology classes through local adult education. She loved walking Plum Cove beach in Gloucester, hunting for arrowheads and other Native artifacts.
Athena’s Memorial Service will be Saturday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, 582 Pleasant St., Belmont.
