Elizabeth “Betsy” Quinn, 87, died peacefully on April 6 at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham.

Betsy was born to Arthur and Teresa Quinn at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Dorchester on Jan. 5, 1937. She grew up in Dorchester and graduated from Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School in Dorchester. Betsy attended Sargent College in Boston, where she majored in physical therapy.

Upon graduation, Betsy joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, for two years. After two years, Betsy was told she could go anywhere in the world if she signed up for three more years with the Air Force. Without hesitation, Betsy said she would like to go to Paris, France. For the next three years, Betsy was assigned to the American Hospital, a short distance outside of Paris.

Upon completion of her military duty, Betsy returned to the United States, and over the next 40 years, she had an amazing career as a physical therapist in various hospitals, including Columbia Hospital in New York, Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, Youville Hospital in Cambridge, and Mass General Hospital in Boston.

She is survived by her brother Edward and his wife Barbara; her three nieces, Lisa Hornbeck and her husband Russ, Maura Lundt and her husband Brendan, Stacie Mone and her husband Jason; her two nephews, Stephen Quinn and his wife Jennifer, Jamie Nealon and his wife Kristen; as well as many grand nieces and nephews.

Betsy lived in Cushing Square in Belmont for more than 20 years and was a beloved member of the local community. Betsy was always giving of her time and was a frequent volunteer at Mass General Hospital and St. Anthony’s Shrine in Boston.

Throughout her life, Betsy’s faith was her priority and never stronger than in her last few years living at Carmel Terrace in Framingham. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends and has certainly earned her reward in Heaven.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for her Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 130 Common St., Belmont, Saturday, May 30, at 10 a.m. Her burial will be private.
