Warren Jeffrey FitzGerald, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Sept. 12, 2026.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy FitzGerald; his daughter Courtney Cratty, her husband, Jeremy, and their daughters, Bridget and Colleen; and his daughter Krissy Waters, her husband, Matt, and their daughters, Mia and Ashley. He is also survived by his brother, George FitzGerald and his wife, Marcia; his sister, Sheila Long and her husband, Chad; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Warren had a long and accomplished career at Draper Laboratory, where he served as director of the space and missile programs. He worked on guidance, navigation, and control systems and helped lead Draper’s work in space and missile technology during a time of tremendous change in the aerospace industry. He was deeply respected for his technical knowledge, his ability to solve difficult problems, and the pride he took in his work.
That same curiosity and ability to figure things out followed him home. Warren could fix just about anything and was always willing to help. If something was broken, a project wasn’t working, or someone had an idea they weren’t quite sure how to make happen, Warren was the person to call. He loved to build, create, repair, and tinker.
Warren loved Cape Cod, the beach, and being surrounded by nature. The Cape was a special place throughout his life and the setting for many of his family’s happiest times together. He especially treasured the traditions and time spent there with his children and grandchildren.
Above all, Warren was deeply committed to his family and often showed his love by doing things for the people around him. He fixed things. He built things. He helped. He created fun. And if there was a problem to solve, Warren was usually already working on it.
Warren’s family extends a special thank you to his hospice caregivers, Shirley and Hildy, for their kindness, compassion, and care and for the support they provided to his family.
He will be deeply missed.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Warren’s memory to All Care Hospice or to a hospice organization meaningful to you.
