Purple Heart Day Ceremony
The National Purple Heart Day Observance Ceremony will take place at the Belmont Veterans Memorial on Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
The event is co-sponsored by the Belmont Veterans Memorial Committee and the Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1272.
The Purple Heart is awarded to members of U.S. armed forces who are wounded or killed while serving on or after April 1917.
Board Approves Application for Becca Pizzi 5K
The 10th annual Becca Pizzi 5K and Kids Road Race is scheduled to take place Sunday, Aug. 25 at 9 a.m.

Senior Tax Relief Ad Hoc Working Group Established
The Select Board approved the creation of an ad hoc working group to begin a conversation on senior tax relief.
Former Select Board member Mark Paollilo, Library Board of Trustee Chair Kathy Keohane, and Precinct 6 Town Meeting member Aaron Pikcilingis were appointed by the Select Board to the working group.
“That’s not meant to be limited, that’s just to start,” said Select Board Chair Elizabeth Dionne.
The ad hoc group would conclude at the end of annual Town Meeting in 2025.
Russian School of Mathematics to Host End of Summer School Celebration
The Select Board approved a request by the Russian School of Mathematics to use two municipal parking spaces at Waverly Square Municipal Parking Lot.
Those spaces would be used on July 31 and Aug. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. to serve frozen treats for an end of summer school celebration.
