Successful Bicycle Drive

irst Church in Belmont’s Legacy of Slavery Project would like to thank community members for responding enthusiastically to our call for used bicycles to send to healthcare workers in Cuba. As a result of everyone’s efforts, 78 adult bikes donated through First Church will be heading to Cuba with the help of Bikes Not Bombs. Our bike drive was part of a larger effort with other local churches, with the hope that a total of 425 bikes will be sent on to Cuba in the end.

Bikes Not Bombs uses bicycles as a vehicle for social change to achieve economic mobility for people in Boston and the global South. Even if you were unable to donate a bike, you can still support their efforts through your donation to Bikes Not Bombs at bikesnotbombs.org. Your donations go towards the cost of refurbishing and distributing donated bikes as well as their apprenticeship program.

Our efforts can change lives.
