Updated: Belmont Police Investigate Overnight Shooting

A man transported himself to the hospital Monday night following a shooting on Clark Lane.

According to a press release from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, a preliminary investigation indicates the victim and his son were outside an apartment complex when a vehicle sped by and someone inside the vehicle opened fire, striking the man in his leg.

Multiple calls to 911 were received at around 9:10 p.m. on Monday, according to Belmont Police Department. Responding officers found the suspect and the victim had left the area by the time they arrived on the scene. Police Chief James MacIsaac said multiple shots were fired.

Belmont, Watertown, Waltham, and Arlington police cooperated in a search for the people involved.

It was later determined the gunshot victim had checked himself into Mt. Auburn Hospital for treatment.

According to a Belmont Police release, the investigation is ongoing, but the shooting was not random and there is no immediate threat to the community.
