Girls Lacrosse: Belmont went 1-1 this stretch, falling to Reading, 16-5, on April 7 before rebounding with a 12-5 win over Watertown on April 9. Junior Natalie Merrow led the offense against Reading with three goals, while freshman Ellie Siegert tallied three assists and senior captain Brooke Whalen recorded eight saves. The win over Watertown was led by a dominant six-goal, one-assist performance from senior captain Niamh Lesnik. Additional contributions came from senior captain Nora Goulding (one goal, two assists) and Siegert (two goals, one assist). Siegert and Sienna Pond each notched their first career goals and points during the week.
Boys Lacrosse: Belmont defeated Watertown, 15-1, on April 9, led by five goals from senior captain Eli Akins. Senior Declan Doherty, freshman Tommy Mackinnon, junior Peter Ausrotas, junior Michael Manganaro, and sophomore Max Valenti each added multiple scores as well. The starters were pulled in the first half. The Marauders then fell to Reading, 13-4, on Apr. 11, with Akins and Doherty each scoring twice.
Boys Rugby: Boys rugby lost 33-0 to Milton High School on April 10. The boys look to bounce back against Saint Johns Prep this April 16.
Girls Rugby: Belmont defeated Needham convincingly, 49-10, on April 10, with two tries from junior Becca Christensen, and one each from Nina Lind, Farrah Harris, Maddie Kenneally, Adele Goho, and Cosette McMullin.
Girls Track: Belmont fell to Lexington, 108-23, in a challenging meet, highlighted by a first-place finish from sophomore Isabella Fernandez in the javelin and a strong showing from senior captain Kira Van Kelsted, who won the 800m and placed second in the mile. Senior captain Joanna Wolf also contributed with a second-place finish in the high jump.
Boys Track: Belmont fell to Lexington, 91-45, in its strongest showing against the perennial Middlesex League contender in recent years. Senior captain Gregory Zugman won the 100-meter and scored in the 200-meter, while sophomore Tomas Wolff and senior captain Sam Amaratunga took first and second in the 200m. The 4×100-meter relay team also secured a win over the Minutemen.
Boys Volleyball: Belmont fell to Woburn, 3-1, on April 6 and to Westford Academy, 3-1, on April 8. Senior captain Ian Choi led the offense against Westford with 12 kills, while senior Thomas Yu added seven of his own, and junior Will Sun contributed four blocks.
Ultimate Frisbee: Belmont defeated Brookline, 14-6, on Apr. 9, with a balanced offensive effort led by Parker Reynolds, who had a monster performance with five goals and three assists. Junior Sam Goentzel added two goals and four assists and Chris Yi contributed two goals and five assists.
Boys Tennis: Belmont went 3-1 this week, sweeping Watertown and Wakefield 5-0, beating Melrose 4-1, and narrowly falling to Arlington, 3-2. Junior Kolya Radojevic and sophomore Miles Hendricks delivered consistent wins throughout the lineup, while sophomore Jack Moriarty faced strong competition at first singles.
Girls Tennis: Belmont won three of four matches this week, defeating Watertown, Melrose, and Wakefield each by 4-1 scores, before falling to Arlington, 3-2, in a series of tightly contested matches. Freshman Isha Appadwedula and senior captain Armela Mahadi remained unbeaten at first and second singles, while freshman Malina Loretan stepped up at third singles and earned a key three-set win against Melrose.
Baseball: Belmont dropped games to Melrose, 3-0, and Reading, 3-2, in a pair of close contests early in the week, with strong pitching performances from Matt Pizzi and Kyle Ksander keeping the Marauders competitive. Belmont rebounded with a 13-1 win over Watertown on April 11, as Craig Deane shut the door in five innings. Casey Regan’s three-run home run broke the game open, while Johnny Connolly added three hits.
Softball: Belmont defeated Watertown, 7-3, on April 10, behind a dominant outing from junior Olivia Ormond, who struck out 15 while also scoring two runs. The Marauders’ offense was fueled by multi-run performances from Ormond and Gianna Mastrangelo, who each scored twice, while contributions across the lineup led to seven total runs on 20 hits.
