Didriks, a fixture at 77 Leonard St. since 2017, will close by the end of September, owner Jonathan Henke said Monday.
A closing sale has been announced.
The news comes shortly after owners of Stone Hearth Pizza, also located on Leonard Street in Belmont Center, announced their plans to close the restaurant’s doors at the end of June.
The homewares store first opened in Cambridge in 2004 and became known for its focus on quality and design from manufacturers such as Barlow Tyrie for outdoor furniture, Garnier-Thiebaut for linens, Simon Pearce for glassware and Alessi for accessories. The Belmont location also houses Local Root, which provides high-quality cookware, bakeware, cutlery and kitchen accessories as well as knife-sharpening services.
A location in Newton Lower Falls opened in 2014 and closed last year.
Henke said he is ending operations due to his desire to explore new ventures.

“The lease is coming to an end and I’m looking forward to doing other things,” he said. “I’m of the opinion that I’m still young enough to do other things. This kind of work is a seven-day-a-week job and I’ve been doing this for a long time. If I were to put another 10 years into it, I would be significantly further along in my life and that would eliminate those options.”
Henke said even as shops have closed in Belmont Center, he hopes Belmont residents will continue to support local businesses. He said Locatelli Properties, the commercial property owner, actively seeks out independent shops like Didriks, and he expects another such establishment will take its place.
“Locatelli loves having a nice mix of stores in the community and they work very hard to deliver that mix,” he said. “The next chapter awaits.”
