Field Hockey – The 12th-ranked Marauders started off the season strong, winning each of their first two games. The excitement levels were high for the home opener on Sept. 9, as Belmont pulled out a 2-1 win over 9th-ranked Watertown, a team that they hadn’t beaten since 2007. The Marauders were led by senior captain Elsie Lakin-Schultz who scored both goals, one with an assist from senior Gigi Mastrangelo. The next day, the team traveled to Arlington and won, 5-2.
Football – Belmont won its season opener on Thursday night, defeating Arlington Catholic 20-14 at Harris Field. The Marauders’ victory was the team’s first since 2024, snapping a 663-day drought. Belmont was able to run the ball effectively throughout the game, getting key contributions from senior captain running backs Damir Neal and Patrick MacKinnon. Neal scored two touchdowns and Quarterback Ronan Kelleher scored the third on a keeper. With the win, first-year head coach Chad Foster has the Marauders at 1-0, ahead of the matchup with Cambridge Rindge & Latin on Friday, Sep. 18.
Girls Soccer – Belmont started off the season strong, beating Watertown 6-2 in its home opener on Sept. 9. Senior defensive midfielder Zoé Marion, junior captain Catherine Greiner, and sophomore Clara Sciandra each contributed two goals to provide all the scoring. The 1-0 Marauders were next scheduled to face Arlington on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Boys Soccer – The Marauders won the first two games of the season, defeating Watertown 3-2 on Sep. 16, and knocking off Newton South, 1-0, on Sep. 17. David Klimasmith recorded the shutout in goal for Belmont against Newton South, while Robert Hoerle provided all the offense Belmont needed, with the lone goal. Belmont will next take on Arlington, Somerville, and Hillsboro-Deering, as they look to keep the momentum going.
Girls Volleyball – Belmont opened its season with a 3-0 home victory against Watertown on Tuesday night and followed with another 3-0 win on the road in Arlington. The Marauders, winning their first six sets of the year, face Wakefield and Brockton on the road next week, before returning home next Friday night for a matchup against Burlington.
