As we welcome a new season, we’re excited to share some important updates and opportunities at the library.
First, we extend our heartfelt thanks to two long-serving members of our Board of Trustees, Mary Stearns and Mark Carthy, who recently completed their terms. Both played a key role in helping bring the dream of a new library to life, with leadership that touched everything from administrative management, oversite on policies, liasoning to our friends group, even guidance around successes maintaining the grounds. We are deeply grateful for their service.
We also recognize and celebrate the retirement of longtime Technology Coordinator Ellen Girouard, who concluded her career in April. Ellen’s work helped shape our digital services, managed our Library of Things, supported the Cookbook Club, curated the puzzle collection, and much more. We wish her all the best in retirement and thank her for her many contributions.
On a brighter note, the Sunflower Challenge is back! After last year’s enthusiastic response, we invite patrons of all ages to pick up a free packet of sunflower seeds (while supplies last), plant them at home, and share your photos and stories with us later this summer. It’s a joyful way to connect and grow together as a community.
We’re also pleased to announce that the Minuteman Library Network has launched a new mobile app—Minuteman Mobile. The app offers a streamlined experience, allowing you to search the catalog, manage your account, place holds, and access eBooks and audiobooks with ease. It’s available now on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store—we encourage you to check it out!
This month also marks a personal milestone—my 10-year anniversary as library director, and the start of my 11th year in this role. It’s been a privilege to serve this amazing community, and I can confidently say that no one is more excited about the new library than I am—though I may have a few rivals for that top spot!
And finally, a sneak peek: something exciting is in the works… The Library of Tools is coming soon. Stay tuned!
