Full Roster for Annual Town Day

In March, the number of vendors and booths booked for Town Day was about 70% of the goal set by organizers.

Today, the roster is full, as people interested in a Town Day presence have come flooding in, to the point where Leonard Street will be more than full on Saturday.

“They all came in a rush,” said Deran Muckjian, president of the Belmont Center Business Association. “We’re at about 105 participants, right where we want to be.”

For the first time, Moore Street will have some vendors due to increased interest, Muckjian said.

Town Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If it goes off as scheduled, this will be the first May Town Day in a while, because the last three have been held in September due to the weather.

The booths along Leonard Street will be a blend of local merchants, service groups, politicians, and restaurants.

“We like to have a good mix, so we don’t compete against each other,” Muckjian said.

There will be the expected attractions, such as the fundraising dunk tank, the Lions Club pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m., and music, kiddie rides, and food. There will be some unexpected attractions, including a balloon character artist and some drone flying.

Leonard Street is closed for the day, starting at 7 a.m. and reopening when the event ends at 4 p.m.

Town Day is hosted by the Belmont Center Business Association and sponsored by Watertown Savings Bank.

And for the curious, the weather on Saturday is predicted to be around 75 degrees and sunny.
