Beech Street Center Walkway Improvements
Town Administrator Patrice Garvin told the Select Board Monday night that the Facilities Department is working with Interim Council on Aging Director Brandon Fitts to improve the walkways at the Beech Street Center.
The plan, she explained, is to remove the cobblestones and fix any cracks in the pavement.
Select Board Chair Elizabeth Dionne thanked Garvin for the update and noted sidewalk improvement was among the issues raised at the listening sessions regarding the Council on Aging reorganization.
RKJ Presents Financial Market Analysis, Fiscal Impact Analysis
Eric Halvorsen, principal at RKJ Associates, and Erik Woyciesjes, associate principal at RKJ Associates, presented a financial and fiscal impact analysis to the Select Board.
In particular, the report, presented to board members Monday night, explores opportunities for growth in Belmont.
“I think your biggest opportunities for the short-term are probably in residential, whether that be in MBTA Communities or something separate,” said Halvorsen. “I think there’s great opportunities there. … It doesn’t have to all be in four-story, multi-family apartment buildings.”
He also highlighted the opportunity for smaller-scale commercial buildings or mixed-use retail/residential “where it makes sense.”
