The March 7 Belmont Voice has comments from Select Board Chair Elizabeth Dionne and Town Administrator Patrice Garvin about the new ice rink being revenue neutral. Has there been an operating budget established? We are building a $30 million-plus ice rink, hoping that we will not be losing money operating it? Belmont taxpayers already know how much it will cost to build it and where these capital costs are. Is there an annual, 5-year, 10-year operating budget or projection? What are these revenue streams and costs? The Select Board Chair wants to “break even.” Show the taxpayers the operating budget so that the additional tax burden can be identified.
