Belmont is in a critical state, whether this April override passes or not. I am the only Select Board candidate who brings a decade of town experience along with a master’s degree in economics. I have established collaborative and cooperative relationships across our town that I will leverage to help Belmont be wise today and prepared for its future.
I am already working on developing a framework for long-term planning that provides stability and sustainability in these interrelated areas: fiscal management, zoning, commercial development, energy, and environmental issues.
However, we also need to look for more creative and efficient ways to provide town services while investing in areas that will lower expenses and/or increase revenues:
- Bring more special education services into the district that are a better solution for our students and budget.
- Help the Office of Planning & Development promote wise commercial development.
- Revise zoning to be fiscally sensible while attracting more businesses.
- Empower our Administrators and Department Heads to continue to reduce inefficiencies, streamline and modernize technologies, and develop more effective and efficient ways of providing services.
- Hire a Grant Writer to capture federal and state grants across all town services.
I invite you to learn more about me at lubienforbelmont.com and join any of our upcoming events. I will fight for Belmont to get back on sound financial footing and will lead us to create long-term plans for our sustainability. I ask for your vote on April 2.
