Belmont April 2024 Election Coverage Summary

February 3, 2024

One reason we launched The Belmont Voice was to fill the void in local election news. The April ballot has been finalized, and The Voice is prepared to provide comprehensive coverage.

The Voice will focus on the town-wide races: Select Board, School Committee and moderator.

Candidates in contests were offered space to print a 250-word statement outlining their positions.

Belmont Voice staff will interview candidates, focusing on crucial questions in the race. These stories will run as space allows but will always include each candidate in the particular race.

For residents hoping to weigh in, we will accept letters in support of candidates or issues. Letters are limited to 300 words and will run in the order received as space allows. The last day to submit letters for consideration is March 15. No letters will be published in the March 28 edition.

Letters need to have the author’s name, address, and phone number. We publish letters with the writer’s full name and the name of their street. The phone number is for verification only. As with all letters to the editor, we will ensure the published letters represent a balance of views.

Campaigns will be invited to share listings for events such as coffees and meet-and-greets. These will be published as space allows.

Representatives of The Belmont Voice will participate in Belmont Media Center-sponsored candidate forums in March.

The Voice does not accept political advertising.
