Heat Wave Forces Questions on Ice Rink

Can a building be morally irresponsible? New England experienced a record heat wave and the Belmont Sports Center was making ice for recreational purposes. People were dying from heat-related illness and accidents across New England and the Belmont Sports Center was making ice. On July 3,  the “ISO to Go” electric grid monitoring app reported that over 50% of the electricity used in New England was being produced by burning natural gas. Much of that electricity was being used to keep people safe and comfortable during this heat wave. Yes, burning gas to keep people cool and the Belmont Sports Center was making ice. The solar panels on its roof are producing a lot of clean electricity that could be used to keep people safe and comfortable and the Belmont Sports Center was making ice. I ask again, can a building be morally irresponsible?

Can a building be fiscally irresponsible? The taxpayers of Belmont will pay many thousands of dollars to keep municipal buildings cool during this heat wave and the Belmont Sports Center is making ice.
