Having grown up in Belmont and returning eight years ago with my husband to raise our young family, I believe our town moderator should be fair-minded, experienced, and someone who listens to people on both sides of an issue. Mark Paolillo embodies all of these traits and skills. With over 30 years as a Town Meeting member, 12 years on the Select Board, and service on many other committees including the Warrant Committee – he is the most qualified candidate for moderator.
I have worked closely with Mark for the past several years when I co-chaired the Municipal Rink and Fundraising Campaigns. During this time I learned how much Belmont relies on dedicated volunteers and residents who serve on myriad committees. I deeply respect the countless hours Mark has given to the town in elected and appointed positions in Belmont’s government. His committee work has dealt with financial and community issues including work for Belmont’s seniors, its adults, and school-age populations. He is well-versed on all town issues that would be brought to Town Meeting and to make committee appointments. Working with him firsthand, I can attest that Mark is always prepared for meetings, follows through on next steps, and ensures people are heard whether or not he shares their viewpoint.
In addition to his knowledge of Belmont, issues, and financial acumen, Mark is a consensus builder and encourages new ideas and fresh perspectives. Belmont is fortunate to have Mark’s involvement over the past 30 years and especially at this moment with uncertainty on a national level and important issues before us locally. Mark is experienced, trusted, and the leader we need as moderator.
Please join me in voting for Mark Paolillo in person on April 1 or earlier by mail.
